Keeping Controversy Alive
Media commentators/anchors/interviewers LOVE to say "To be continued..." and "I guess we'll have to leave it at that" and "Good points on both sides" etc.
Because if they said, "We have an obvious winner here. We will no longer let the loser come back and make the same old tired arguments." ... Then they would (1) lose the 'controversy' that keeps people interested, and (2) they would have to remember which lies have been debunked.
And if the "winner" were ever a Democrat then the journalist would have to endure the "Typical Liberal Media" epithet spat at them. Ooooooh they hate that accusatory tone.
It's hard out there for American-style journalism.
