White Empathy

I can imagine that there would be "white guilt", but it should really be called "white empathy". Some white people put themselves in black people's position and think, "Jesus, I'd sure be pissed at whites if I were black. Especially at the Southerners: first they enslave blacks, then they don't follow the North's example and free the blacks, and then GO TO WAR to keep blacks enslaved. If I were black I'd want to strike out at Southerners and whites in general, to this day."

But then the defensive white's rationalization takes over, rescuing the ego from empathy, and says, "Fuck 'em. They're freed now. They can stop hating me. In fact, since they hate me so much, I'm going to hate them. Fuck you, black people! You're free so GET A JOB."

As far as the "white guilt" in which Cons want to portray Democrats as appeasers, saying, "So sorry about the slavery thing. Have some more money. Have this qualified white man's job." ... that white guilt does not exist.
