My Note to the Obama Campaign
To the Barack Obama for President campaign,
What are you guys waiting for? The only thing the press wants to cover in this Presidential Election is aggressive attacks or fake swooning, so you must attack, attack, attack!
You need to make starkly plain that John McCain is a dangerous person to have in the White House. Trot out all his colleagues who can tell horror stories about McCain's temper. Then show how he shoved a woman in a wheelchair who dared say there were POWs left in Vietnam. Then show the "bomb bomb Iran" videotape. Then show how he is itching for a war with Russia. This dangerous man will have his angry finger on the nuclear button!
The press will only cover over-the-top stories. Barack is playing defense against fake Republican outrage, when he should be graphically showing how horrible the McCain/Palin ticket would be for America. The thing is, the truth about McCain/Palin is an over-the-top story. The press will of course say that Barack is "going back on his word to have a high-minded campaign", but you can't win a debate if there is no debate being conducted.
Stop responding to "lipstick" and "sex ed" smear ads. McCain said - himself - that his campaign has been forced to run smear ads because "Senator Obama refused to do townhall-style debates." Apparently Obama is to blame for the smear ads against him, and the press reports that as fact. You need to change the conversation about how Barack is the "bad guy" to how "John McCain is a dangerous person to have as President."
