How Corporate Media Works

1) Corporations give money to media for commercials.

2) Corporations give money to politicians who give it to media for commercials.

3) If the media pisses off the Corporations, (1) and (2) won't happen.

Where are the lawyers?

Is there no lawyer who will make a case that "advertisers" are actually paying "hush money" to Media to buy their silence?

Is there no lawyer who will make a case that campaign contributions from Corporate CEOs are thinly-veiled bribes?

Is there no lawyer who will make a case that the Bush Tax Cuts are illegal because they were implemented with the understanding that they would generate kickbacks to the Republican campaign coffers?

The Framers have built an excellent system with the 3 branches of government and the Freedom of the Press. But government has relinquished its regulatory burden under the false flag of "Free Market Capitalism." We the People need to wrest Media and Government back from Corporate CEOs.

If I were President today

President Obama has done many good things so far. He has also dragged his feet and not pushed for the reforms he ran on during the campaign.

This morning, if I were President, I would not be in China. I would be announcing on National TV a War on Corporate Greed. My remarks would include, "I am ordering all U.S. ports to turn back container ships carrying goods from China, and all oil tankers. They will be allowed to refuel, but will not be allowed to offload their cargo. They must leave the ports within 24 hours of arriving."

The Corporate and Media "Reactive" Strategy

I was watching a "news report" from CNN this morning and they had on some talking head from the "Libertarian leaning" CATO Institute. Apparently, CATO is concerned that under the new Health Care reforms that everyone's premiums will go up. This is because reform will "force" Private Insurance companies to accept high-risk people and those with pre-existing conditions.

To which I say, "Number one, the moral thing to do is to make sure that not one more person dies or goes bankrupt, denied coverage. Number two, with everyone covered, there will be fewer high-risk and pre-existing-conditions people because they will get preventive healthcare."

But no, they say, "You can't cover everyone with diabetes." They SHOULD be saying, "We are going to drastically reduce the number of people *developing* diabetes under this new bill."

But, again, no: To the Corporatists and simple-minded-Republicans, they'd rather everyone suffer under a *reactive* system, rather than everyone prosper under a *proactive* system."

And the Media are complicit in all this.

Working the Peanut Gallery

I think ex-/future- Corporate Managers are running the Government and Media right now. But the Government and Media want Democrats to think Republicans are racist, anti-science scrooges; and want Republicans to think that Democrats are limp-wristed, weak, coddlers.

As long as The Village keeps Republicans and Democrats fighting each other, and keep us entranced with the media circus, then we won't notice that as we're gawking, the Corporate Managers are working the crowd picking our pockets.
